Second week, Summer Leadership, 2021
Not only we celebrate Camp activities, we do also celebrate the children's birthdays on their days, we bring joy and happiness in their hearts. Those are my children.
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Mahatma Gandhi
Most of the people know me as SEVE! In 2006 to 2007, I Went to Hinton, Alberta Canada, to do my volunteer work, I worked as a sport manager, bus driver and I played a lot different roles there, at the Boys and Girls Club, Hinton, Alberta, it was the most beautiful and wonderful experiences for me to serve and work with kids, I´m still so thankful to work with those wonderful women, Julie M. Kennedy Director, wonderful woman, Tami Sub-director, Liana Thompson Secretary and others at the Boys and Girls Club, for this opportunity and now we can give back to our community.
While all children are born equal, they don't all have the same opportunities to flourish. This is as true for children here in la Piedra, Dominican Republic. Nothing in today's society is more disgraceful than the marginalization of some young people who are driven to isolation and despair. We must not tolerate such disparities help us to give a hand to those kids and youth.."
Volunteers develop specialized educational programs that focus on self-pride, respect and peace education. Most children entering the camp can neither read nor write. With many having previously failed in public schools, the camp provides an opportunity for children to learn about their environment, culture and peers through experiential learning and educational excursions. Most of the children are discovering and developing respect for their community and themselves.
